Security & Account Changes (Important)

We’ve improved the backend behind Turtle Net to make uploads more secure and support new features. Because of this, there are a few important things you need to understand about how accounts and security work.

How account security works

When you upload your first “turtle” (using either Manual Upload or Quick Upload), we save a snapshot of your security information at that exact moment. This becomes your base identity on our servers.

Even if you later change your username or display name in your profile settings, that only affects what you see. It does not change your stored security identity.

Why this matters

When you upload again, we compare your current security information with the original one from your first upload.

If they match → upload works normally
If they don’t match → upload will be blocked

This helps protect accounts and prevents abuse or identity spoofing.

Changing your username or security info

If you want to change your security information or reset your username identity without losing upload access, you must contact us first.

New Features

1. Comments

You can now comment on turtles!

Maximum: 3 comments per turtle per user

2. Quick Upload

A new faster upload option is now available:

Uploads publish instantly
Only supports file URLs (no direct file uploads)

3. Prepared infrastructure

This update improves the backend and prepares Turtle Net for much larger features in the future.

4. Display Name separation

Display names are now separate from usernames, so changing your display name will not affect your account identity. Your display name will be publicly changed for everyone to see next time you upload a turtle.
